Mr. Brown began his career serving his community as a police officer in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area where he was one of a select few in the country to be certified to have concurrent jurisdiction in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. He graduated from the Washington, D.C., Prince Georges County, Maryland and Northern Virginia Police Academies and also attended course work at the National Police Academy located at the FBI training facility in Quantico, Virginia.
Since 1989, Mr. Brown’s career has been banking and real estate with a focus on mortgage servicing. He has successfully started three mortgage servicing departments at three different mortgage companies. In the first two instances his charge was to build a mortgage servicing department and portfolio to make the company more valuable upon sale to national mortgage companies, a feat that was accomplished.
During his tenure at the last mortgage company Mr. Brown grew the servicing depart from a staff of two to over thirty employees and a portfolio that approached $1 billion dollars.. One of the main focuses of the servicing department that Mr. Brown controlled was collections and loss mitigation with a strong emphasis on REO properties. Once properties were taken back as an REO Mr. Brown had direct oversight of working with contractors to rehab the property within strict budget restrictions. Once the rehab process was completed Mr. Brown had a network of real estate agents that would sell the properties. Loans were held in 48 contiguous states although rehab’s were not necessarily taking place throughout all of those states.
